Question: What are the pros and cons of laser hair removal? I also would like to know how is it better than IPL and electrolysis? I’m actually planning on purchasing the Tria laser hair removal system. But I want to make sure that I’d be making the right decision.
Answer: Laser hair removal can be painful so it needs a supervision from the expert. It is expensive, but since you’re planning to buy a laser hair removal home kit, than you could get bigger savings with that.
As with IPL, it is virtually pain-free. No supervision is needed and it is very cost-efficient. However, some say that laser hair removal is still more effective and much safer than IPL since IPL have higher risks of adverse side effects.
As with electrolysis, it is really, really painful. And the process is so slow since the hair follicle has to be treated one at a time. So imagine how painful it is to prolong such agony right? However, electrolysis is the only proven method by the FDA for permanent hair removal. Since laser hair removal is only considered as permanent hair reduction.
With modern day technology, IPL looks the best. But it all depends on the type of hair that you have. If you have gorilla hairs, then of course you have to go for laser hair removal treatment done by a professional dermatologist. If you have fine hairs like me, go for IPL. I totally ruled out electrolysis from my menu.
Or you could also go for a mix, as what other people often do. For example, you can get professional laser hair removal treatment for coarse hairs while you can also get IPL home hair removal for fine hairs.
